Former Lawrence priest becomes monsignor

The Rev. Paul Kamide, who served in Lawrence and North Andover, has been named a monsignor by Pope Benedict XVI.

Kamide has been an Augustinian priest for 45 years, serving mainly in Greater Lawrence and Florida.

Locally, he served at St. Augustine Church, Lawrence and Merrimack College in North Andover.

For the past 15 years, he has been pastor of Epiphany Parish, Port Orange, Fla. Other assignments in the Sunshine state include St. Thomas of Villanova College, Miami; Resurrection Parish, Dania; Blessed Trinity Parish, Ocala; and St. Margaret Mary Parish, Winter Park. Kamide was chaplain at St. Joseph Hospital, Houston.

Immaculate Conception, 5 Court St., Newburyport: The Rev. Bruce Morrill speaks at the Faith Formation series of the Voice of the Faithful Northshore Seacoast affiliate tomorrow, 7 p.m. Morrill is professor at Boston College and author of books dealing with Catholic liturgy and sacraments.

First United Methodist, 57 Peters St., North Andover: The Rev. Tiffany Steinwert of Cambridge Welcoming Ministries is guest preacher tomorrow at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m.

Franciscan Center, 459 River Road, Andover: Married couples retreat Oct. 11, from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Cost is $50 per couple.

St. David Episcopal, 231 Main St., Salem, N.H.: Adult forum focuses on books from the Bible, starting tomorrow at 11:15 a.m., and every Sunday through Oct. 26.

St. Matthew, 1 Searles Road, Windham, N.H.: Renown liturgical music composer Dan Schutte performs Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. Cost is $10.

St. Monica, 212 Lawrence St., Methuen: LifeTeen hosts its kickoff concert starring Lukus Simari tomorrow after the 6 p.m. Mass.

Deacon Andy Goldy and parishioner Mike Tompkins, lead Bible study on St. Paul's letter to the Romans and Galatians Mondays beginning Sept. 29 at 7:10 p.m.

St. Patrick, 118 S. Broadway, Lawrence: Franciscan priest, Father Benedict, leads a pro-life Mass Oct. 4 at 7 a.m. and the first Saturday of each month.
