October 11, 2008 12:03 am DANVERS — Women bring several qualities when they enter law enforcement, Methuen police Chief Katherine Lavigne said earlier this week. Lavigne addressed 165 law enforcement workers at a conference hosted by Essex County Sheriff Frank Cousins Jr. at the Sheraton Ferncroft Resort Thursday morning. Women have "patience" and "discipline" and "strength." They know "cooperation" and "open mindedness." They're also "understanding" and "caring," Lavigne said. Also speaking at the event was West Newbury police Chief Lisa Holmes, the only other female chief in the area.
