METHUEN — A 17-year-old girl was arrested after police said she was seen spray painting a stop sign near 26 Carleton St., Monday afternoon.

Allison Powers of 61âÑ2 Hampshire Road was charged with tagging and illegal possession of a prescription drug (topiramate).

Sgt. Michael Lahey said a resident saw Powers spray painting the word "obsession" on the stop sign and called police about 12:07 p.m.

Powers was arrested a short distance away, he said.

According to an Internet Web site, topiramate is an anticonvulsant used to prevent and control seizures and to prevent migraine headaches.
