ANDOVER — Selectmen want feedback from residents before deciding whether to reappoint Town Manager Reginald "Buzz" Stapczynski for five more years.

Stapczynski, 61, told board members last week that he wants to serve another five-year term as town manager, a position he has held since 1990. He is under contract until June 4, 2010.

Before they make a decision by late January or early February, selectmen are encouraging residents to share their opinions on Stapczynski's performance over the last five years.

Selectmen said letters and e-mails they receive will be used during the reappointment process. Residents will also be given the opportunity to comment at an upcoming selectmen meeting, likely in January.

"Constructive criticism is always good," said Selectman Ted Teichert. "If they want to complain or praise, if they don't tell us, we don't know. You've got to speak up."

If selectmen decide to reappoint him for a fifth term, Stapczynski will become Andover's longest tenured town manager.

In 2008, Stapczynski made $130,908 in salary, travel allowances and other pay.

Before coming to Andover, he worked as an assistant town manager and town manager in Wilmington.

Residents are asked to send e-mail feedback to selectmen@andoverma.gov. Letters can be sent to the Andover Town Clerk's Office at Town Offices, 36 Bartlet Street, Andover, MA 01810.
