Boxford couple charged in New Hampshire drug case
BOXFORD — A Boxford couple were using a computer and local copy stores to create dozens of fake prescriptions to obtain Percocet, according to Salem, N.H., police.
Darlene Donovan, 48, and William Boda, 43, whose last known address was 396 Main St., in Boxford, are each facing several drug-related charges after police nabbed them at a Salem hotel where they were staying.
When Salem police arrested them Tuesday, they found 45 fake prescriptions for the narcotic painkiller Percocet inside their room at the Red Roof Inn.
In Massachusetts, the duo already were wanted for passing 10 bogus prescriptions to get 720 Percocet pills between July and October. The estimated street value for the pills is more than $7,000, police said.
Boxford police also have obtained arrest warrants for the couple in connection with those cases.
In Salem, Donovan is charged with six counts of acts prohibited. Boda faces four counts. The charges are felonies, each of which could land them in state prison for three and a half to seven years.
Salem police started looking for Boda and Donovan on Oct. 20, when a Wal-Mart employee reported a possible fraudulent prescription was passed at the pharmacy. Police tracked them down Tuesday at their hotel room about 1 p.m.
Salem, N.H., police Capt. Shawn Patten said they plan on filing more charges in their case. Both suspects are being held on bail pending their arraignments in Salem District Court.
