Faithful gathers for ecumenical Thanksgiving services

Several area towns are hosting ecumenical services to give thanks and praise to God for the blessings received this past year.

Here is a partial list of Thanksgiving services:

Andover: South Church, 40 Main St.: Interfaith Thanksgiving service, Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.

Atkinson, N.H.: Church on the Plains, Main Street: Area lay leaders and clergy lead services Thursday at 7 p.m.

Derry, N.H.: First Parish, 47 E. Derry Road: The Rev. Catherine Sprigg of St. Luke United Methodist Church preaches at the service Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

Hampstead, N.H.: Olde Meeting House, Emerson Avenue: Interfaith service of music, readings and prayers of thanksgiving tomorrow at 4 p.m. Financial donations and non-perishable food items accepted for the Hampstead Ecumenical Food Pantry.

Haverhill: Trinity Episcopal, 26 White St.: Community Thanksgiving service Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Londonderry, N.H.: Londonderry United Methodist, 258 Mammoth Road: The Rev. Wesley Palmer preaches at the ecumenical service Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. Canned food will be collected for a local pantry. Donations will be taken for Sonshine Soup Kitchen.

North Andover: St. Michael, 196 Main St.: The Rev. Stephanie Chase-Wilson of St. Paul Episcopal preaches at the annual Thanksgiving ecumenical service tomorrow at 7:30 p.m.

Other happenings:

Atkinson Congregational, 101 Main St., Atkinson, N.H.: Advent workshop for children and teens tomorrow after the 10 a.m. service until 1:30 p.m.

Rolling Ridge Retreat Center, 660 Great Pond Road, North Andover: On the Way to Bethlehem, a one-day Advent retreat Dec. 2, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Cost is $40. To register, 978-682-8815.

"Attending to Stillness and Hope," a times of silence and sharing, Dec. 9 to 11 a.m.

St. John the Evangelist Anglican meets at the Hannah Tenney United Methodist Church, 290 Main St., Salem, N.H.: The church celebrates its fifth anniversary tomorrow at 1:30 p.m.

St. Joseph, 33 Main St., Salem, N.H.: The church choir presents a service of lessons and carols Nov. 28 at 7 p.m.

Trinity Episcopal, 26 White St., Haverhill: Organist Rosalind Mohnsen performs tomorrow at 4 p.m. Free.

Temple Emanu-El, 514 Main St., Haverhill: Discussion of issues concerning Israel and the Middle East Nov. 29 at noon, focusing on Israel Chavurah, which began in the year 2000 with the second Palestinian uprising.
