METHUEN — A thief hooked up a 16-foot landscaping trailer with three snowplows and drove away, police said.
The owner told Officer Abel Cano he noticed the trailer and plows missing from his property at 64 West St. about 10 a.m. on Tuesday.
Two of the plows are Minute Mount2 models that were part of new truck purchase packages and the third is an 8-foot Fisher snowplow valued at $300 to $500, the owner said.
The trailer, a 2008 model, is valued at $1,800, police said.
The thefts were the second in the area involving snow-removal equipment in the past two weeks.
Last week, police reported a shed at North Andover Middle School on Main Street had been broken into and two 11- and 14-horsepower snowblowers were taken. A snowplow was also stolen from Thomson Elementary School in North Andover.
And in Andover, police said an employee at the Wyndham Hotel on Old River Road interrupted the attempted theft of a truck-mounted sander stored on the property.
The worker told police a blue Chevrolet Blazer with tinted windows and a silver four-door Dodge Ram pickup were involved in the attempted theft.
And about the same time, officials at the Courtyard Marriott Hotel on Campanelli Drive, near the Wyndham, reported a utility shed was broken into but nothing appeared to be missing.
The cases in Andover and North Andover remain under investigation.
