Snow breaks car window at mall, injuring infant, mother

SALEM — A mother and infant were taken to the hospital today after heavy, wet snow fell from the roof of a walkway at the Mall at Rockingham Park and broke through the rear window of the woman's illegally parked car.

The incident occurred outside JC Penney around 11 a.m. as a light rain fell, causing the snow to fall on a Toyota Scion parked in a fire lane. The mother and child were brought to Parkland Medical Center. Salem police were not able to provide their names.

A mall spokeswoman said snow would be cleared from the roof.
