Going back in time
Northern Essex Community College's Life Long Learning program will present longtime Bradford resident Gus Reusch for a historical examination of the "land of the winding river" today at 2 p.m. in the Technology Center on the Haverhill campus.
Reusch will take participants on a journey back to the 1600s, when Haverhill was known as Pentucket. He will elaborate on the city's early development and its progression. He also will touch upon Haverhill's first industries, the settlement struggle for survival, and issues concerning Native Americans. A showcase of more than 80 photos and maps will accompany the lecture.
Admission is $1. Life Long Learning is a program of lectures, study groups and trips for adults who are 50 years and older. More information and a free calendar of Life Long Learning events is available by contacting Charlene Boucher at 978-556-3825 or cboucher@necc.mass.edu.
