Rubber duck adoptions begin Sunday

HAVERHILL — Rockingham Toyota-Nissan-Honda of Salem, N.H., has donated a new 2009 Nissan Versa as the Grand Prize in the Haverhill Rotary Club's Rubber Duck Regatta, to be held Sept. 12 on the Merrimack River, below the Basiliere Bridge.

Rubber duck adoptions will be available for $5 each starting Sunday evening when the city holds its July 4 celebration at Haverhill Stadium on Lincoln Avenue. Doors open at 5 p.m. The fireworks are at 10 p.m. Volume discounts are also available.

Thousands of ducks will be dropped from the bridge on Sept. 12. The person who adopted the first duck to cross the finish line will win the new car. All racing ducks will be recovered. More information will be available at the stadium during Sunday night's events. More information is available by calling John Cuneo at 978-373-1971, ext. 223, or visiting the Rotary Club's table at the stadium.
