HAVERHILL, Mass. — A federal-state-local crackdown on drug trafficking continued Friday morning with the arrest of two people on cocaine charges.

Nolan Cox, 28, of 127 Winter St., was arrested at 11:05 a.m. and charged with distributing cocaine and possession of cocaine with intent to distribute. Erin Detty, 19, of the same address, was charged with possession of cocaine.

According to a police report filed with Haverhill District Court, Cox sold a $50 bag of cocaine to undercover buyers at his residence. Cox told the buyers he could "score" some cocaine for them, walked to a nearby building and returned with a rock of cocaine, according to the report.

Haverhill District Court Judge Stephen Abany ordered Cox held at the jail in Middleton in lieu of $500 cash bail. Detty was released on her own recognizance. Both were ordered to appear in court Nov. 23 for a status hearing.

Deputy Chief Donald Thompson said the arrest was made by the Essex County drug task force, which consists of federal, state and local law enforcement officers, as well as detectives Gary Melanson, John Arahovites and T.J. Howell of the Haverhill police.

Last week, four men, Alejandro Cruz, 55, of 222 Essex St., Lawrence; Efrain Crespo, 32, of 131/2 Grove St.; Eric Gonzalez, 30, of 34 Grand Ave.; and Joseph Hurley, 27, of 94 Keeley St., were arrested in Haverhill by the task force and charged with trafficking in cocaine.

A fifth man, Hector Milette, 28, of 34 Grand Ave., also charged with trafficking in cocaine in Haverhill, was captured in Dorchester by the Essex County and Boston gang units Tuesday night.

The five alleged traffickers are held in the Middleton jail on very high bail amounts.
