HAVERHILL — Police closed off a section of Kingsbury Avenue from Willow Avenue to the Boxford Line at around 9:45 a.m, after receiving a report of a large tree that was about to fall across the road.

Officials at the city's Highway Department said a tree removal company hired by National Grid will be cutting the tree down and removing it.

The work was expected to begin around 10 a.m. and should be completed by noon. Police said National Grid has shut off the electrical service in the area of 470 Kingsbury Ave.
