Congresswoman Niki Tsongas, D-Lowell, will host a telephone town hall meeting tonight at 7 to discuss health care reform with 5th Essex District residents.
Last week, House leaders introduced the Affordable Health Care for America Act, which is a blend of the three health care reform bills that were approved by separate House committees earlier this year. The bill is designed to expand health insurance coverage while lowering costs in the health care system.
Tsongas will hear residents' opinions and share her thoughts on the bill over the telephone.

Elders invited to theatrical performance
The Pentucket Regional High School theater department invites area senior citizens to attend a free performance of this year's fall production, "In the Garden of Live Flowers." The show is tomorrow at 3 p.m., in the high-school auditorium. Light refreshments will be provided by the nonprofit Pentucket Fine and Performing Arts Foundation.
The show opens for general audiences on Thursday, with additional performances on Friday and Saturday. The curtain for those shows goes up at 7 p.m., and tickets are $6 at the door. Pentucket Regional High School is at 24 Main St., West Newbury.
Hotcakes for Heat breakfast is Saturday
The Breakfast Exchange Club of Greater Haverhill will host a Hotcakes for Heat pancake breakfast to help raise money for senior citizens' heating costs on Saturday from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Sarah's Place Adult Day Health, 180 Water St.

Weight loss workshops offered in Kingston

Filmmaker to speak
Lawrence-based filmmaker Lorre Fritchy will speak on her most recent film "Millies," during a White Fund lecture in partnership with Northern Essex Community College on Sunday at 2 p.m.

Volunteers sought for cemetery cleanup
The Hilldale Cemetery Association will hold its final cemetery cleanup of the year on Sunday from 8 a.m. to dark.

First-time homebuyer training offered
Community Action Inc. will host a first-time homebuyer education course for area residents beginning Monday from 6 to 8:30 p.m. in the Presidential Gardens Community Room, 140 Evergreen Drive.
Participants will receive information offered by housing and finance professionals. A state-approved certificate is awarded after completion of the four-night course. The class will meet Nov. 9, 10, 16 and 19. Cost is $50 per household. There are no income requirements to attend.
