Masked man robs gas station

HAVERHILL — A masked man robbed the Sunoco Food Mart at 790 River St. of an undetermined amount of cash Tuesday night, police said.

Detective Capt. Alan Ratte said yesterday the man entered the store about 8:04 p.m. and robbed,then ran out the door on River Street, toward downtown.

The man was described as being about 6 feet tall, weighing about 165 pounds with a thin build, and wearing a black ski mask and dark-colored coat with large blue and black stripes.

No weapon was shown, Ratte said.

Ratte said the clerk was so shaken she was unable to give a statement to police, and she was scheduled to be re-interviewed by investigators last night.

Disturbance: 68 Pecker St., 5:25 p.m.

Loud music: 1 William St., 6:13 p.m.

Arrest: Joseph Smith, 26, 30 Robinson Court, Lawrence, public drinking, assault and battery, 22 Essex St., 6:20 p.m.

Arrest: Marco Melo, 26, 39 Vine St., assault with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery, malicious damage to property 39 Vine St., 8:50 p.m.

Disturbance: 30 N. Broadway, 9:37 p.m.

Loud music: 65 5th Ave., 9:48 p.m.

Loud music: 109 Groveland Road, 10:17 p.m.

Loud music: 100 Water St., 11:21 p.m.

Loud music: 0 Wingate St., 11:56 p.m.
