HAVERHILL — A city woman told police her wallet was taken while she stayed at a Harrison Street address to care for a family member.

The victim told police the wallet was taken between Sept. 15 and Nov. 7, and that she had received a bill for $181.17 from Vonage.

Police said it appeared her information was used to obtain telephone service and that $181.17 had been deducted from her checking account at a local bank, police said.

The bank continues to investigate the fraud, police said.

The theft was reported at 1:41 p.m. Wednesday, police said.
