Motorcyclist injured in crash with SUV in Windham

WINDHAM — A Salem man was injured yesterday after his motorcycle and a sport utility vehicle collided on Rockingham Road.

William Morrissette, 54, of Shadow Lake Road was transported to Parkland Medical Center with a possible hip injury, said Windham police Capt. Patrick Yatsevich.

Morrissette was initially treated at Parkland Medical Center in Derry and then transferred to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. His condition was unknown last night.

Shortly after noon, Morrissette was riding his 1975 Harley-Davidson FX 1200 north on Rockingham Road when the driver of a gray 2002 Ford Explorer pulled out from Seavey Road and into Morrissette's path, police said.

Morrissette applied his brakes and his motorcycle went down on its side before striking the front driver's side of the Explorer, police said.

The Explorer's driver, Cori Adams, 31, wasn't injured. The vehicle was later driven from the scene. The motorcycle was removed from the scene by a wrecker service, police said.

The accident remains under investigation. No citations have been issued.

Windham police officers and Windham firefighters responded to the scene, near Lamplighter Village.
