SALEM — If you don't know the boot scootin' boogie, tonight's the chance to learn.
And even for those who do know the dance, the Greater Salem Caregivers still want your support.
The nonprofit group, which started in 1989, primarily provides rides for the elderly and residents with disabilities of Southern New Hampshire, but tonight it'll hit the dance floor.
The nonprofit group will hold a line dancing fundraiser for the first time, in the hopes of raising money to keep offering local residents programs they depend on, according to Director Dick O'Shaughnessy.
He said Jason McCollin, a line dancing teacher from Brentwood, will donate his time and music to teach anyone interested in the basics — or more advanced moves — on the dance floor.
All proceeds from the event will help defray the cost of services for the elderly and people with disabilities.
O'Shaughnessy is one of two full-time staff members. He said the services are provided primarily by 80 volunteers who help residents from Atkinson, Pelham, Plaistow and Salem.
A $10 admission fee gets the public three hours of dancing and refreshments. The event will be at the Masonic Temple on Main Street today from 6 to 9 p.m.
