SALEM, N.H. — A routine traffic stop led to the arrest of a wanted Lawrence felon, who allegedly had a stash of weapons when police searched him.
Police said they pulled over a car on Route 28 Thursday night because it had no brake lights, but by the time they left the scene they had arrested two of three people in the car.
Police said the front-seat passenger, Rafael Dominguez, 28, of Lawrence, had an active warrant out for theft from Toys "R" Us.
Officials said they patted Dominguez down and discovered a small amount of marijuana and a shoulder harness containing knives on his body. The harness held five knives — including a punch knife, which is similar to brass knuckles but contains a blade, according to police.
The back-seat passenger also was arrested for possession of drugs. Police said Kevin Laurencelle, 28, of Derry had a small amount of oxycodone in his possession when the car was pulled over.
Laurencelle was released from custody and will be arraigned in Salem District court Aug. 11. Dominguez was charged with being a felon in possession of a deadly weapon and possession of a controlled drug. He is being held on $10,000 cash bail at Rockingham County Jail.
