Man injured when motorcycle hits tree

NEWTON, N.H. — After crashing his motorcycle into a tree, a Haverhill, Mass., man was taken by medical helicopter to receive medical treatment in Boston on Saturday.

William Morris, 38, suffered serious injuries after losing control of his motorcycle while going around a corner and colliding with a tree 10 feet off Smith Corner Road at around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday. Morris was taken by MedFlight to Boston Medical Center, according to police Chief Larry Streeter.

Morris was in stable condition at Boston Medical yesterday afternoon, according to a spokeswoman for the hospital.

He was riding his motorcycle on Smith Corner Road, when he lost control while negotiating a turn and hit a tree, according to police. The bike damaged the tree, but did not disrupt traffic, Streeter said.

Morris was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, Streeter said.

Police are waiting on toxicology reports to determine if drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash.
