ATKINSON, N.H. — The Lions Club golf tournament is scheduled for Saturday at 8:30 a.m. at Granite Fields in Kingston.
Single golfers are encouraged to play in the scramble.
The entrance fee is $100 and includes the game, golf cart, steak dinner and prizes.
Get your yard sale on the map in Atkinson
ATKINSON, N.H. — The Women's Civic Club's townwide yard sale is set for Sept. 27, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Residents can sign up to hold a yard sale at their home for $25. The money will go toward the town and the Timberlane Regional School District.
The Women's Civic Club will make maps of all the yard sales and advertise the event.
To sign up, pick up a form at Town Hall, the community center, library or Atkinson Village Store. The deadline to register is Sept. 20.

Plaistow celebrates anniversary Saturday
PLAISTOW, N.H. — The much-anticipated 100th anniversary of the Civil War Soldiers Monument is scheduled for Saturday. A day of festivities begins at 11 a.m., and will follow the same format as it did when the statue was first donated to the town.
Portrayers of Abraham and Mary Lincoln will share stories about life in Washington, D.C. The 32nd Regiment of Massachusetts will camp on the town green all weekend, preparing meals and re-enacting life long ago.
Music students from Timberlane schools and the Timberlane Community Band will perform.
The monument will be blessed and veterans will be celebrated.
Bring a picnic lunch or buy food from the Boy Scouts.
Kingston lake group meets Sept. 24
KINGSTON, N.H. — The Kingston Lake Association will meet on Sept. 24, at 7 p.m. at Sanborn Regional High School.
The board of directors will reorganize for the new year, discuss feedback from summer activities and create a timeline of goals for the next year.

Take a trip to Hawaii via Atkinson
ATKINSON, N.H. — Take a $5 trip to Hawaii.
The Atkinson Garden Club will host Nancy Griffith for hula dancing and a discussion on the language of flowers in Hawaii at the Atkinson Community Club on Oct. 1.
Refreshments will be served at 1 p.m., a short business meeting will be at 1:30 p.m., and Griffith's presentation will begin at 1:45 p.m.
The public is invited to attend this meeting and people are asked to give a $5 donation at the door.
Line dancing underway in Hampstead
HAMPSTEAD, N.H. — Kick up your heels in Hampstead Monday mornings.
Beginners and those who already know their way around the dance floor are invited to adult country line dancing from 9 to 11 a.m. Jason McCollins is the instructor.
Dancing is at Hampstead Memorial Gym on Main Street.
The cost is $2. No registration is necessary.
