Veterans Day observances start today in Southern New Hampshire and continue through Wednesday.
Atkinson: A breakfast will be served Wednesday to honor veterans at the Atkinson Community Center, 4 Main St. Breakfast is at 9 a.m. A public ceremony begins at 10:30 a.m.
Danville: A Veterans Day observance will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the town veterans' memorial.
Derry: The sophomore class is hosting a breakfast for veterans Wednesday at Pinkerton Academy from 7 to 9:30 a.m.
A ceremony will be held at MacGregor Park starting at 10:30 a.m. Events include raising the flag and a salute to the colors, Veterans Day proclamation and an open house at VFW Post 1617 at noon.
Hampstead: There will be a Veterans Day observance Wednesday at Hampstead Middle School from 11 a.m. to noon. The program will include patriotic music, an Air Force Junior ROTC color guard and a laying of a wreath at Veterans Memorial Park in front of Town Hall.
Londonderry: American Legion Post 27 will host a Veterans Day parade on Saturday, Nov. 14, beginning at 10 a.m. from Londonderry High School to the Town Common. Maj. Dan Tamburello will be the guest speaker at the Town Common.
Pelham: Participants will leave John H. Hargreaves Post 10722 at 8:45 a.m. Wednesday. There will be a ceremony at 9 a.m. at the veterans' memorial, then a return to the post for coffee. There will be another ceremony at 11 a.m. in Gibson Cemetery.
Plaistow: The Timberlane Community Band pays tribute to veterans Sunday with a concert at 2 p.m. at the Timberlane Performing Arts Center on Greenough Road.
It will be accompanied by a slide presentation. Several local veterans will speak. Admission is free; refreshments will be served.
Salem: Woodbury School hosts its annual Veterans Day program today from 8 to 9 a.m.
There will be musical performances, a POW/MIA presentation and video.
Speakers include Gov. John Lunch and Herman Streitburger, who was a prisoner of war in World War II.
Salem: Veterans Day activities Wednesday will be dedicated to two servicemen who died in service this year. The program begins at 11 a.m. in Veterans Park and will include music by Salem High students, a color guard from Salem JROTC and a firing squad from VFW Post 8546. Refreshments will be served at the VFW post on North Broadway after the ceremony.
Windham: Windham Center School will host a Veterans Day assembly Tuesday in the cafeteria. Third-graders invite veterans and parents to the assembly at 1:30 p.m. The tribute will include poems and songs. Refreshments will be served.
