Fix square

In reference to Lafayette Square: They can hang all the flowers they want; it's never going to be different until they do something about fixing the statue that never should have been moved in the first place. They also need to redesign the traffic flow there.

Private business

What's happening to the structure of Lawton's Famous Franks is unfortunate, but as a city taxpayer, I demand that not one cent of the city's revenue be spent to rescue this business. It is a private business concern, not municipal.

School woes

I'm not condoning what is happening in the Lawrence School Department. Again, we are on the front page of newspapers and on TV. Doesn't anybody want this to stop? This can all be done in a much better way.

Stimulus

Because Obama strongly said we are in crisis and he pushed his so called "stimulus" package through before it was even read, he gave every employer the opportunity to cut back his employees as well as their pay.

Mufflers

It seems as though once summer comes along we hear a lot of motorcycles, cars that don't have the right muffler system or whatever sounds might be annoying to people. They're supposedly trying to control that. You're supposed to get your car inspected and if your muffler isn't right, then you can't get a sticker. My suggestion is to have a better muffler system for lawn mowers. You're trying to spend a quiet day and what do you hear? Someone's lawn mower.

Older drivers

The difference between young people getting into accidents and older people getting into accidents is very simple. Young people get into accidents because they are not experienced enough to know what to do in certain situations. Old people get into accidents because they can't physically manipulate the car properly. They can't physically do it.

Let us decide

Seeing as how legislators don't know what to do with casino gambling, I have the solution: Let the voters of Massachusetts handle it once and for all so this way we will be responsible for our own actions.

Stop spending

I'm not in denial over Obama. Not only do I realize that Bush doubled our debt, but Obama came along and within six months doubled it. And now he's looking to triple it. I don't believe in either party. I want to see the tightening of the belt. I want it done and I want it done now. I want the spending to stop.

Gang question

I went to rent an apartment in Lawrence but when I went there they asked me if my two children were gang members. I didn't know you had to show your two oldest children to landlords in Lawrence in order for them to decide if they want to rent an apartment to you.

Need a raise

I've been collecting Social Security for quite a few years. I can't believe the president isn't giving a small raise to people who are collecting Social Security because I know I'm having a hard time.

North Korea

Obama says we're prepared if North Korea sends a missile to Hawaii. I want a president that says if North Korea sends a missile towards Hawaii, then they will leave the map.

Losing money

While the Essex County Retirement Board loses a whopping 33 percent on its managed investments and makes a series of questionable decisions on a number of other matters, the stumbling North Andover Board of Selectmen is incapable of pulling its funds out and investing them elsewhere.
