Sound Off

Support library

I recently set up a fund at the Haverhill Library to buy equipment, books, computers, that kind of thing. I don't wish it to be spent for the things that are supposedly the responsibility of the City of Haverhill. It's time that the mayor realize that there is a responsibility for all of the people of Haverhill to support the library. It's a very important part of the lifestyle of all of us.

Fire Laboy

In regards to Superintendent Laboy: There should be no question he should be fired immediately. He should be fired, no leave with pay, how absurd. Fire him.

Hit the road

Get rid of Wilfredo T. Laboy. He has done nothing for the children, he has done everything for himself. It is time he hit the road.

Yard sales

I love yard sale shopping, and I'm sure the sellers love us, too — especially when we buy your junk when you tell us it works, only to get home and to find out it does not work. Now you have my money and I have your broken junk. Thanks a lot.

Band parents

What a disgrace the band parents are in Methuen. They want one-on-one band instruction for their children. My child is special needs and doesn't get one-on-one.

Parking

My girlfriend lives on one of the busiest streets in Lawrence. If I can see better on one side of the street than the other and I have more room, that's where I'm going to park and too bad for anybody who doesn't like it.

Priorities

Band parents and band people: That's all you care about is the band? You don't care about your children's education?

Class sizes

All I know is my child's class size better not go up because of the Methuen band.

Lights on

It is currently 11:06 p.m. and I am driving by the South Lawrence School on I-495 and all of the field lights are shining bright. It just doesn't make a lot of sense to me to have these lights on at almost midnight.

Sales tax

How can the Mass DMV charge more for sales tax than you actually paid for the vehicle? That is not a sales tax. What it really is is theft.

Rotting away

A little over a month ago, I bought a bunch of flowers. With all this rain my flowers have rotted away. I've lost a lot of money. I feel sorry for the greenhouses.

Wedding money

I just went to a wedding on Sunday and my check was already cashed on Monday. Don't these people enjoy each other's company instead of counting the envelopes?

Let us speak

It is the clear that the Methuen School Committee members are against allowing the public to speak. Have they ever heard of the First Amendment? It took the newest and youngest member to stand up and to allow the people to speak. The three buddies just rubber stamp the superintendent without even questioning the budget. The superintendent needs to go. We need responsible people in positions who listen to the public.
