To the editor:
I cannot believe what I read the other day. I can't believe that our president is going to pass on the cost of the bailout of the auto companies and the bank bailout even before the president's package is fully implemented.
I can't believe that we who are the ones who paid their taxes all of our working lives, now have to carry the burden of paying for some else's mistakes.
I challenge the president to justify why we seniors, those who are on fixed incomes (Social Security) and are the ones who barely make ends meet each and every month, have to pay. Let me tell you how the seniors on Social Security are going to pay. Remember last year when we received a cost of living increase? Guess what: you are not going to receive those for the next four years. But remember your rent will go up and grocery bills and your heating bills. If you own a car, guess what else is going up? And your Medicare.
Why is it every time government comes up with a new program we the seniors pay!
We must tell our elected officials in our area that we are very upset and we expect them to work on this problem.
