Should people be allowed to register to vote on the day an election is held?
The Massachusetts Legislature is considering same-day voter registration, which would permit people to register to vote at the polls on Election Day. Such a system already is in place in New Hampshire.
Supporters say same-day registration makes it easier to vote and would increase turnout. Under current law, voters must register at their city or town clerk's office prior to elections if they have moved or have not previously been registered.
Opponents say same-day registration makes it easier to commit election fraud and places a financial burden on cities and town forcing them to be equipped to register voters at the polls.
What do you think? Is it not easy enough to register to vote already? Or is same-day registration a needed improvement? Do you worry about fraud? Tell us what you think.
