Experts

Haverhill can find $24,000 for a study of the streets that need potholes and manhole covers fixed. Will the study be conducted by the same group that said the bridge on Interstate 95 was safe? Who are these professionals who get these fantastic prices for errors? Mayor Fiorentini, please, you are losing your common sense. Wait and think a little. We didn't elect you for this idea.

No atrocities

Dean Velvel of the Massachusetts School of Law is comparing Bush's actions to the Nuremburg atrocities. What is wrong with him?

Lawsuit here

In regard to that story of the woman who collapsed in the emergency waiting room and died: According to the article, she was in the emergency waiting room for 24 hours. Twenty-four hours and she collapsed and died. You know, I don't believe in lawyers and lawsuits, but if anything deserves a lawsuit, this is it. Everybody involved in that emergency room should be sued for negligence — for contributing to the death of that woman. Twenty-four hours in an emergency room and nobody pays attention to her or sees her or checks her? That's pathetic and if anybody should be sued, this is a case for a lawsuit.

City cars

Regarding the 11 city workers losing their cars: I've heard the last few weeks about what's been going on in the police department, how so many police officers have cars and are taking them home. I don't know what's been going on lately, but I was in the police department from the 1960s through the 1990s. When I went on in the '60s, the only individual in the police department who had a car that took it home was the chief. No other brass — no captains, no deputies, no sergeants, no lieutenants; none of the brass from sergeants to captain ever took a car home. Nobody else took a car home. I don't know what happened in the police department, but the mayor and the city should step in and go back to the principle that the only person taking a car home is the chief of police.

Long hair

This is for the people with long hair: I have long hair. I comb it before I leave home. I take care of it. I do not sit in a restaurant and play with my hair the whole time I'm eating. Nor do I go to a buffet and lean over it and keep pushing my hair back. If you can't take care of long hair and leave it alone, then you must have an obsession with it. Cut it, so that other people don't have to be annoyed. And like I said, I have long hair. I know how to take care of my hair. It's not the only thing I own.
