Great jakes
I would like to thank the North Andover firefighters and all the other volunteers who are repairing the clubhouse in North Andover. Thanks to all who gave the materials for the roofing and the siding and also for the food for the workers. You are all "great jakes." Thank you very, very much.
Below capacity
I'm just watching the Yankees and the Phillies in the World Series. I noticed in the newspaper about the Yankees at home. They haven't filled up in the World Series. They're only getting 50,000 people a game and they're probably close to 52,000 capacity. What's wrong with New York? Can't they even fill up the new stadium that they built in New York?
Throw them out
I'm calling about the situations in Methuen and Lawrence. It's getting ridiculous that these town employees can't be laid off, either when there is no money to pay them or when they actually do something wrong. The rest of the world has to live by a certain set of rules. These government unions are getting out of control. They should all be thrown out. Start all over again. There are a lot of people who would love those jobs.
Ridiculous
I'm a school nurse in Methuen and I would like to invite Barbara Grondine and Bob Vogler to spend just one day in our nurse's office. We are not even allowed to get a flu shot because there aren't enough. What we're dealing with is unbelievable. We have our lives on the line and our families to protect. Nobody makes $50 an hour. That was an error. She did do a retraction, but she didn't mention the nurses. Historically she's always voted down our raises and basically said we're worth much less than we are. I know she was paid well when she was a guidance counselor as well as Mr. Vogler when he was a teacher. I would like them to see what the nurse's office is like before any more ridiculous statements are made in the newspaper.
Family plan
Sandown's town government is still under the family and friends plan. Selectman Brown has, on occasion, not only signed the town recreation director's paycheck, who just happens to be his wife, Deb, but he has also argued successfully for the Board of Selectmen to give her a pay raise.
What a job
Picture this: A police officer on a construction job on a Route 125 connector standing behind a steel fence, watching the men work. What is his job? There is no traffic to watch. It is on the other side of the fence. What a good job, huh?
Use robots
In light of the fact that so many of our soldiers are being killed by roadside bombs, why doesn't the Army utilize robots to travel 100 yards in front of the convoys so that they will be blown up in the event of a roadside bomb instead of our troops?
Travesty
I'm just reading about the eight firefighters laid off for 11 weeks. This borders on the criminal. They allowed other cities and towns to pick up the slack while eight men stayed at home in their beds. The mayor should resign over this. It's a travesty of justice.
Disrespectful kids
What is up with the students at Lawrence High School crossing Route 114 when they have a do-not-cross signal and cars traveling east and west? Cars with green lights are forced to stop because these disrespectful kids don't pay attention to the law. It's going to be the driver's fault once one of these kids is struck. Put some details out there and have these cops make sure they're respecting the laws of red lights and green lights and do-not-cross signals.
