By the time the final round was finished at Campbell's Scottish Highlands Golf Course, the Pinkerton junior had established himself as the man to beat in 2009, capping a brilliant 2008 with a sparkling 71. The effort was good enough to tie for second place. "He's just never frazzled, and he's never satisfied," said Pinkerton coach Dan Colburn of his three-year varsity starter. "He's the real deal." Kish drove that fact home repeatedly through a 25-2 season for the Astros, taking home medalist honors in six of the nine quad-meets. The two-time Eagle-Tribune All-Star, who was third in Class L a year ago and seventh as a freshman, finished with a stroke average of 37. His regular season highlight came at Green Meadow Golf Club, where he carded a four-under par round of 32 to tie the school record. Kish, who has honed his game with countless rounds at Hoodkroft over the years, played fourth singles for the Pinkerton tennis team last spring.
