BasEball

Methuen Babe Ruth is holding its Winter League program at Play Ball in Salem (NH) for Methuen residents ages 13-18. The program runs Sunday evenings from Jan. 11-March 15. A program for ages 7-12 runs Saturday mornings from Jan. 10-March 14. The cost is $100. For more information e-mail methuenbaseball@verizon.net or call 978-416-7273.

Haverhill Senior Baseball will hold registration for the 2009 spring and summer season Saturday, Jan. 10, from 10 a.m. until noon at the Haverhill Public Library. The spring season has divisions for 13-year-olds and 14-16 year-olds and runs from mid-April to the end of May. The summer season runs from early June into August, has a 13-year-old and two 14-15 year-old divisions. Applications for those interested in coaching are also available. The Riverside-Bradford Baseball League is holding walk-in registration on Saturday, Jan. 10, from 9 a.m. until noon at the Haverhill Citizen Center. Mail-in and online registration are also available at www.rbbaseball.org.

Tennis

Cedardale Health & Fitness in Haverhill is offering a free beginner lesson for adults (noon-1 p.m.) and juniors (11 a.m.-noon) on Sunday, Jan. 11. Non-members are welcome. Contact Adam Molda at amolda@cedardale-health.net or call the desk at 978-373-1596 to reserve your spot.

Pentucket received a seventh from Sarah Pearsall in the shot put and an eighth from Rebecca Morse in the mile (5:52.12) at the Massachusetts Freshman/Sophomore Small Schools meet held in Boston at the Reggie Lewis Center.
