Katie McCarthy led off the inning by reaching base on an error. Jeanette Doucette laid down a bunt that was bobbled, allowing McCarthy to advance to third and Doucette to reach first safely. After an intentional walk to slugger Tricia Martin, Meaghan McCarthy ripped a single through the hole between first and second to drive home the winning run. Pitcher Kathleen Cheney totalled nine strikeouts for the Warriors. ... Paige Fleming exploded for six RBIs in Methuen's 16-1 win over Lawrence. Fleming belted a three-run homer to go with a two-run double and a sac fly to close out the Rangers' scoring. Methuen pitchers recorded 11 strikeouts. ... North Andover downed Georgetown 7-2. Alison McCarthy, Danielle Fournier and Devyn Thompson each had RBIs for the Scarlet Knights, and Kristin O'Connor tallied two hits. ... North Reading bested Masconomet, 17-5. Caroline Gattuso had four RBIs, three hits and three runs to go with her complete game victory on the mound. Emily Vento led the way with four goals and Jenn Pino added three goals and an assist of her own for the Scarlet Knights. Stephanie Taylor turned in the game of her career, making a career-high 21 saves. "She had a tremendous game," said coach Karen Lahey. "She knew that she would be shot at a lot and she kept her composure." ... Katie Herter scored five goals to help Brooks cruise past Lawrence Academy, 16-4. Christine Donovan scored two goals and nine other players contributed one goal each for the winners. Carly Churchill made six saves. ... Boys Track Faucher, North Andover cruise North Andover crushed Lynnfield 111-34. Nick Faucher won the javelin with a heave of 154-0, and also ran on the winning 4x100 relay. Chris Riedel won two events (long jump and triple jump), as well as running on the 4x100 team and Drew Pickul won the hurdles and ran on the 4x400 relay that was victorious. ... Phillips crushed Cushing, 96-42. Andover's Corbin Tognoni won both hurdles events, while Michael Bernieri threw the shot put and the discus for wins. Michael Donelan won the triple jump and the 200. ... North Reading earned its first win of the season, defeating Ipswich 74-70. Matt Sexton led the Hornets with wins in the high jump, 110 hurdles and 300 hurdles events. ... Methuen fell to Tewksbury, 76-69. Josh Adams earned victories in the long jump and triple jump, as well as the 400. Nathan Pinciak won the 800 and contributed to the winning 4x400 relay.
