Brady participates fully in practice

Tom Brady participated fully in the New England Patriots practice, a sign that he's expected to play in Sunday's season opener after missing all four exhibition games.

Yesterday's practice report listed Brady with right shoulder and foot injuries. But last year's practice reports listed him with the shoulder injury in every game and he started all of them. Brady has started 127 straight games, the third longest streak by a quarterback in NFL history.

Brady had said Monday that his right foot has improved and he could have played in all four exhibition games. But he stopped short of saying he would play Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Boston Bruins have signed center Stephane Yelle, who spent the last five seasons with the Calgary Flames.

Last season with Calgary, the 34-year-old Yelle had three goals and nine assists in 74 games. He added two goals in seven playoff games.

Pro baseball: MLB's scoring committee rules against Sabathia

Upon further review, the play stands.

Major League Baseball's scoring review committee ruled that official scorer Bob Webb did not err when he decided that Pittsburgh's Andy LaRoche singled against Brewers pitcher CC Sabathia in the bottom of the fifth inning of Milwaukee's 7-0 win on Sunday.

Sabathia tried to make a barehanded pickup of LaRoche's softly hit grounder, but dropped it. Webb immediately ruled it a hit, explaining he watched LaRoche out of the batter's box and the runner was two-thirds of the way down the line as Sabathia was picking the ball up.

New England Revolution forward Adam Cristman faces toe surgery that will sideline him for the rest of the season.

The operation on his right big toe is scheduled for today. He played with the injury all season and is tied for the team lead with six goals in 18 games.

Cristman, in his second MLS season, sprained the toe late last season and aggravated the injury in January while playing for the U.S. Under-23 team.

The Revolution are in second place in the Eastern Conference, two points behind Columbus.

LSU's football team met at the Tigers' on-campus training center Tuesday afternoon, then went ahead with practice.

Gustav caused some damage at Tiger Stadium, including broken glass and torn awnings over club seats. Debris littered the stands and playing field.
