Peltz, Salem nearly pull off upset

Boys Soccer

Salem nearly pulled off an upset, falling to defending Class L champ Merrimack, 3-2.

Brian Peltz scored with three minutes remaining in regulation to send the game into overtime before the Blue Devils allowed a goal nine minutes into the extra frame.

Peter Ventola scored Salem's first goal and Ethan Carr made nine saves in net.



Londonderry beat Nashua South 4-1. Joe Creed, Connor Pauley, Kevin Greene and Ronnie Weidner each scored for the Lancers.



Pinkerton defeated Spaulding 3-1. Kyle Gundrum, Mike Wanelik and Corey Grant each scored goals and Omar Khartabil chipped in two assists.



Sanborn rolled past Farmington, 6-0. Jed Magnusson and Logen Johnson scored two goals each and Garrett Boucher and Cody Lloyd also added goals.



Con-Val rolled past Pelham 4-0. Freshman Derek DeFranzo created several scoring chances, but couldn't quite put one away.

Field Hockey

Dandurant, Sachems squeak by

Pentucket defeated Wilmington 1-0.

Hillary Dandurant received a pass from Brittany LeClair and scored the game winner with six minutes remaining.



North Reading tied Ipswich 0-0. Goalie Kiara Zani made 11 saves.



Timberlane beat Dover 3-1. Jessica Zeidler, Nikki Rothwell and Siobhan Lundt scored for the Owls. Carrie Dresser and Emily Cannon also played well in the win.



Exeter squeaked by Pinkerton 1-0. Devin Shea and Erin Garrish played well for the Astros.

Volleyball

Guzman, Rangers roll

Methuen beat Haverhill 22-25, 25-16, 25-15, 25-21. Elaina Guzman chipped in with 16 assists and Rashidat Agboola added nine kills and three blocks.

Courtney Murach also added 11 kills and eight aces. Hannah Davis had 13 kills and three blocks for the Hillies.



Andover swept Central Catholic 25-15, 25-14, 25-7. Central's Carolyn Eddy played through a foot injury to tally 16 assists.

Girls Soccer

Walters, Lancers roll

Leah Walters and Catie Lewis scored to help Londonderry defeat Nashua South, 3-1.



Con-Val topped Pelham 4-2. Kim Cordeiro scored on a spectacular 45-yard volley and Brittany Long added a goal.



Presentation of Mary fell to Lowell Catholic 5-1.

Stephanie Mitrano scored the Panthers' lone goal.

Golf

Denney a bright spot

Chelmsford topped Haverhill 16-4.

Brendan Denney shot a 38 and won his match 3 and 1. Also, Matt Collins tied his match.
