Pro baseball: AL home run leader Quentin has broken wrist
American League home run leader Carlos Quentin has a broken wrist, and the Chicago White Sox left fielder will have surgery Monday that could sideline him for the rest of the season. Quentin was removed from the lineup before Tuesday's game because of what the White Sox described then as a sore right forearm, and he hasn't played since. The team said that he was hurt during last Monday's game at Cleveland. A screw will be inserted into the wrist, and he will be re-evaluated in two to three weeks. Quentin is batting .288 with 36 homers and 100 RBIs.

Pro football: Arrest warrant for ex-football star Ingram
An arrest warrant was issued for Mark Ingram, a star on the New York Giants' 1991 Super Bowl-winning team who failed for a third time to appear in federal court for sentencing on a money laundering and bank fraud conviction.
U.S. District Court Judge Denis Hurley said the warrant won't be enforced until Sept. 15, one day before Ingram's rescheduled court appearance. Ingram's attorney assured the judge his client would surrender to U.S. marshals at the Long Island courthouse on the eve of his next court date. He is expected to get 71/2 to 91/2 years in prison. Attorney Raymond Colon said Ingram contacted him early yesterday morning, saying his car had broken down on a Pennsylvania highway as he was driving from his home in Flint, Mich., to Long Island. Two previous sentencing hearings were postponed after Ingram went to emergency rooms complaining of illnesses that were later unfounded, Hurley noted.

College football: PSU player off team, three to miss Oregon St.
A Penn State football player from Connecticut has been kicked off the team for an undisclosed violation of team rules, and three others will miss this weekend's game against Oregon State because of a separate, off-field issue coach Joe Paterno said.
Reserve defensive back Willie Harriott of New Haven is off the squad, Paterno said on his weekly radio show. In November, Harriott was arrested for driving under the influence and speeding.
Paterno also said that defensive linemen Maurice Evans and Abe Koroma, and tight end Andrew Quarless will sit out today's game against Oregon State. Paterno said he's still gathering information on a recent off-field incident.
