North Reading headed to final

North Reading swept Bedford 25-10, 25-12, 25-13 in a Division 2 semifinal match and advanced to play in the final at 4 p.m. Saturday at Andover against the winner of today's semifinal between Boston English and Melrose.

North Reading won the Division 3 North title last year before losing 3-1 to Millis in the Division 3 state final.

Taylor Dyer recorded 26 assists, 13 digs, and 24 service points, including five aces. Kirsten Morrison had 16 kills and three blocks.

Georgetown blasts Matignon

No. 5 seeded Georgetown crushed No. 1 Matignon 9-1 in a Division 3 North semifinal game and advanced to the final at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Woburn. The Royals will play the winner of today's semifinal between Shawsheen and Greater Lowell.

Casey Decareau and Nicoline Holland scored two goals each. Decareau scored the first two goals and assisted the third. Holland scored the third and fifth goals.

"This was a solid team effort and it feels great to get to the finals after losing twice the last three years in the semifinals," coach Colleen Gibbs said.

First-half keeper Jamie Block scored a goal in the second half.
