Stewart, Kasper named Scholar Athletes of the Month
North Andover's Kirsten Kasper and Salem's Sean Stewart are both champions.
Kasper won her historic third Division 1 state cross country title and led the Scarlet Knights to their first ever EMass. Division 2 title this fall. Stewart was the defensive specialist for the Salem High volleyball team, which finished undefeated and won the New Hampshire volleyball crown.
Kasper and Stewart, November's Moynihan Lumber Scholar-Athletes of the Month, are also excelling in the classroom.
Stewart is ranked No. 20 in his class of 522 students. He also scored 700 on the math portion of the SAT. Kasper is ranked No. 50 in her class of 311 students. She scored 630 on the math portion of the SAT.
Both are hoping to attend elite colleges. Stewart has already been accepted to University of New Hampshire's honors program. He's also applying to Boston College and MIT.
Kasper, who's also a multi-time state champion swimmer, is being recruited by the University of North Carolina, Duke, Harvard and Georgetown.
