Report: ABC’s “The Bachelorette” Home Chosen in Charlotte, NC

- — For the first time in "The Bachelor/Bachelorette's" lengthy span on ABC (since 2002), the reality show will not film the first episode at the Spanish-style estate “Villa de la Vina" located in the Santa Monica Mountains of Southern California.

Rather, the producers of the long-running show are choosing to produce episodes from Charlotte, NC, which is the hometown of new Bachelorette, Emily Maynard.

According to Reality Steve, this home will be used in the Bachelorette season premiere this spring and -- surprise -- it's on the Charlotte real estate market for $3.9 million. Local TV station WSOC-TV.com also lists the home as a possible location for the show.

The property's listing agent Nicholas Peters did confirm that his brokerage has a home being used by ABC, however, he said "by contract, the owners and agents can't disclose the address."

He explained that once filming wraps up, ABC would give the brokerage the green light to share the address and actively market the home.

The reported Bachelorette home is a European-style mansion with stucco and stone exteriors. Boasting 12,000 square feet of living space, the 6-bedroom, 8.5-bath home has plenty of room for filming the reality TV show. The home features high-end finishes in granite and marble, outdoor kitchen and pool, as well as a ballroom perfect for the show's famous rose ceremonies.

Built in 2006, the house has been on the market since mid-2008, first priced at $7.89 million. The home has had several price cuts, but if the home will be used for "The Bachelorette," the resulting buzz could end up in a price increase.
