Jennifer Hudson Buying 12,000-Sq Ft Burr Ridge Mansion

- — The celebrity real estate rumor mill is buzzing with talk of a new home for the American Idol contestant turned award-winning artist and actress, Jennifer Hudson. According to Real Estalker, Hudson is under contract to purchase a mammoth 12,000-sq ft mansion in the Chicago suburb of Burr Ridge.

Born and raised in Chicago, Hudson first popped onto the scene during the third season of American Idol. Despite coming up short in the competition, her acting and singing career skyrocketed after her 2006 film debut in "Dreamgirls." She has since tucked an Academy Award, Golden Globe Award, two albums, and spokesperson gig for Weight Watchers under her belt. Now it's time to settle into some new digs. While the final sale price hasn't been revealed, the 6-bedroom, 7-bathroom castle-like home was most recently listed on the Burr Ridge real estate market for $2,795,000, and NBC Chicago reports the 30-year old star "will get the house for 33 percent less than the original asking price of $4.2 million."

Described as a "majestic estate," the massive property was custom built in 2007 and features Brazilian cherry floors, a floating staircase, heated garage, two laundry rooms, a third floor bonus room, formal living and dining rooms, theater, eat-in kitchen, and finished walk-out basement.

Listed by Diana Ivas of RE/Max Elite, a monthly payment on Hudson's new home would be $10,523, assuming a 20 percent down payment with a 30-year-fixed mortgage, according to Zillow Mortgage Marketplace.
