The latest member of the Heinze hockey dynasty is @text5:Leah Heinze@text5: of North Andover. The Pingree sophomore has eight goals and 14 assists in 23 games. She’s the daughter of @text5:Andy Heinze@text5:, the former North Andover and Merrimack College star who is now the head coach and GM of the Valley Junior Warriors.

1,000-point club

Morgan Lumb@text5: became the fourth member of the North Andover girls 1,000-point club.

Nicole Zahoruiko@text5: (NA ‘09) leads with 1,199 points followed by @text5:Kristen Uttley@text5: (‘85) 1,122, @text5:Amanda Shannon @text5:(‘05) 1,058 and Lumb (‘13) 1,000 even heading into postseason.

More millennium clubbers

Coley Viselli@text5: became the fifth 1,000-point scorer (boy or girl) at Pentucket.

Her sister @text5:Ashley Viselli @text5:(Pentucket ‘10) leads with 1,230 points followed by @text5:Erin McNamara@text5: (‘10) 1,106, her brother @text5:Corey McNamara@text5: (‘12) 1,069, @text5:Mike Iola (@text5:‘05) 1,063 and Coley Viselli (‘13) 1,014.

Andover senior@text5: Brian Manning @text5:won every event and won the state gymnastics all-around title by a staggering 14.0 points. The State’s Senior Gymnast of the Year? You guessed it, Burlington’s @text5:Evan Burt@text5:. Why do coaches so often make a mockery out of awards?

Milestone win

Senior @text5:Britt Hart @text5:of North Andover notched her 25th career win as Bryant beat Tennessee State 10-4 at Auburn. She allowed two runs in 6.1 innings.

Duke over UNC

Duke beats North Carolina again. Duke senior @text5:Seth Curry @text5:and his older brother @text5:Stephen Curry@text5: from Davidson are now the NCAA’s leading brother scoring combo. They surpassed UNC’s @text5:Tyler Hansbrough@text5: and Notre Dame’s @text5:Ben Hansbrough@text5:.

Penn State family

Boston College recently offered Bergen Catholic junior defensive end @text5:Kurt Holuba@text5:. The Eagles, however, will probably be out of luck if Penn State offers. The Penn State 118,000-square foot indoor practice facility, Holuba Hall, was donated by his family.
