Qualifying win

Methuen's girls soccer team defeated Somerville 4-0 to qualify for the tournament for the second straight year. Karen Lima scored twice for the Rangers (9-6) and Alex Levesque had a pair of assists.

Stewart ruled out

Pinkerton junior Canada Stewart, who was struck in the head with the ball during the quarterfinal field hockey match with Bishop Guertin which the Astros won 3-0, has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a grade two concussion according to coach Denise Rioux.

Avenging victory

Whittier Tech avenged one of its two volleyball losses with a convincing sweep of St. Mary's to improve its record to 16-2. Jessica Goulet led the play at the net with 11 kills while Monica Lewis had a stunning 23 service points, including the first eight in the first and third games, and five aces.

North Reading clinches

North Reading clinched the CAL volleyball title with its 3-0 win over Peabody. Kat Mazzone and Kirsten Morrison led the unbeaten Hornets (17-0) in kills with nine each.

Graef on roll

North Andover sophomore Dennis Graef, after scoring his first two goals of the season Saturday, had a hat trick in a 6-1 win over Amesbury. The former defender turned forward scored the Knights' first three goals, including one in the first 30 seconds of the game.

Sweet six again!

Greater Lawrence senior Matt Jasinski certainly must enjoy facing Fellowship Christian. For the second straight year, Jasinski scored six goals against Fellowship, yesterday in a 7-4 victory.

Quick-scoring Torres

Sophomore Jaclyn Torres scored three goals in 10 minutes as unbeaten Andover (16-0) routed Lowell 6-0 in field hockey.

MacDougall doubles up

Eden MacDougall scored two goals as Haverhill won against Dracut 3-0 in field hockey.
