Eagle-Tribune

LOWELL - The Lawrence Boxing Club enjoyed a solid night at the Lowell Golden Gloves, winning three out of four matches.

Nick Peralta, Jesse Fabian and Israel Carillo all advanced to Tuesday's Lowell Novice semifinals with wins.

Fabian, the super heavyweight and former Lawrence High footballer, dominated his opponent, Lowell's Joshua Robinson with a unanimous decision.

Fabian scored a knockdown in the opening round and had Robinson dazed in the third, settling for the easy decision win.

Peralta, at 132 pounds, also grabbed a unanimous decision win, knocking down his opponent in the first.

Carillo moved to 3-0 with a unanimous decision over Brian Sweeney of the Wachusett Boxing Club in the 126-pound class.

The only blemish on the night came in the 147-pound open class where Agustine Mauras was decisioned by U.S. Olympic team alternate Dan O'Connor of Framingham.

Mauras and O'Connor went toe-to-toe in a great battle, according to the LBC's Sean Farley.
