Merrimack volleyball wins big on Senior Night

The Merrimack College women’s volleyball team defeated Saint Michael’s College 25-21, 25-16, 25-14 on Senior Night. The Warriors we led by the team’s only senior, outside hitter Jackie Jones (team-high 15 kills, .556 hitting percentage). Junior outside hitter Stephanie Sheehan (13 kills, 11 digs) also starred as the Warriors improved to 14-13 and 8-4 in the NE-10.


The Merrimack field hockey team (13-5) is at Stonehill (18-3) for a first-round NCAA tourney game on Saturday at noon.


The Merrimack women’s cross country team qualified for the NCAA Championships on Nov. 23 in Spokane, Wash. The Warriors are led by Kristin Schmidt (16th) and Fiona Coleman (18th), who both finished in the top 20 at the Division 2 East Regionals.


Freshman starting forward Noah Vonleh of Haverhill scored 17 points (6-12 shooting, 5-8 free throws) and grabbed 11 rebounds and Indiana held off upset-minded LIU-Brooklyn 73-72. Also, Vonleh was named one of the 50 players on the list for the John Wooden Award as the national player of the year.

Sophomore Georges Niang of Methuen had 12 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and Iowa State drubbed Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 80-50.

The BC women beat Hofstra, 80-63. Senior Katie Zenevitch of the Methuen had 10 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and sophomore Nicole Boudreau of Andover chipped in with 10 points and a career-high eight rebounds.


The Sports Club at Rockingham Park is hosting Combat Zone 46 on Friday, Nov. 22. The co-main events are Nate LaMotte vs. Jason Norwood and Rodrigo Almeida vs. Walel Watson. Tickets are $40-$120 and can be purchased at
