BLUE JAYS 6, RED SOX 1

The Rookie Catcher: Christian Vazquez is expected to be an elite defensive catcher but he’s also showing he can hit. He went 1 for 3 with a double, walk and RBI and has reached base safely in 9 of 11 starts this year.

A Dominant Goodbye? Reliever Andrew Miller could be traded by today’s non-waiver deadline. If he is, he went out strong. He struck out the side in the seventh and now has 28 strikeouts in his last 15.0 innings.

Bogaerts Heating Up: Xander Bogaerts went 2 for 4 for the second straight night. He stroked two doubles and now has 25 multi-hit games this season.

Workman’s Line: Starter Brandon Workman surrendered five runs, but just two earned, over 5.0 innings. He issued a career-high four walks and struck out two.

Today: The Red Sox are off today before hosting the Yankees tomorrow. Today at 4 p.m. is the non-waiver trade deadline. Jon Lester, John Lackey and Andrew Miller all could be moved.
