Waldie heats up
UMass Amherst-bound Candace Waldie of North Andover got off to a relatively slow start at the plate this year, but she heated up dramatically last week. She went 3 for 3 with two home runs while scoring the winning run in a 4-3 win over Rockport to start the week and she was 2 for 3 with two doubles and two RBIs in a 3-2 win over Lynnfield to end the week. She also had a home run yesterday and leads the area with a .654 average.
Freshman Cassey Glode of Whittier also had a big week and is now second in the area with a .632 average.
Methuen's Rebecca Armstrong leads the area in RBIs with 17.

Player of the Week: Sarah Frahm
A member of Salem High's super sophomore class, Frahm ended a terrific week by going 4 for 5 in a 14-2 rout of Manchester Central. She was 7 for 12 for the week and has a .348 average for the season, leading the unbeaten Blue Devils in home runs with three while also stroking four doubles.
Two other Salem sophomores, Nicole Gubellini and Stephanie Long, are hitting .594 and .522 respectively.
