Waldie heats up

UMass Amherst-bound Candace Waldie of North Andover got off to a relatively slow start at the plate this year, but she heated up dramatically last week. She went 3 for 3 with two home runs while scoring the winning run in a 4-3 win over Rockport to start the week and she was 2 for 3 with two doubles and two RBIs in a 3-2 win over Lynnfield to end the week. She also had a home run yesterday and leads the area with a .654 average.

Freshman Cassey Glode of Whittier also had a big week and is now second in the area with a .632 average.

Methuen's Rebecca Armstrong leads the area in RBIs with 17.
