AMHERST — The Massachusetts men’s basketball team is ranked 24th in this week’s Associated Press poll.
UMass received 188 points, its most this season after collecting two votes last week.
The Minutemen are 6-0 and coming off a strong showing in the Charleston Classic last week. UMass collected wins over Nebraska, then-No. 19 New Mexico and Clemson.
It marks the first appearance in the rankings for the Minutemen since Nov. 17, 1998 — just over 15 years to the day. UMass has appeared in the AP Poll 78 times previously and is 116-29 all-time as a ranked team. The Minutemen have been ranked in the top 10 48 times, the top five 31 times and No. 1 15 times (32-4).
UMass will be off for a week before traveling to face Eastern Michigan next Tuesday, Dec. 3 in Yspilanti, Mich.
