Another record for Parascandola

Londonderry junior Becca Parascandola beat her own area heptathlon record to capture the USATF Junior Olympics Region 1 Championship Meet. She rolled up 4,476 points to eclipse the mark of 4,381 she set to win the state heptathlon. The next highest in the region was 4,133 by Salem's Lisa Trickett in 1985 and Pinkerton's Bree Robinson with 4,113 in 2007.

Parascandola, who set the area high hurdles record this spring, will compete in the heptathlon at the Junior Olympics in Greensboro, N.C., July 27-Aug. 2.

Londonderry's Rachel Moburg also qualified for Nationals with a second-place time of 2:18.98 in the Young Women's 800 meters.
