MANCHESTER, N.H. — David Cooper's go-ahead RBI single in the eighth inning put the New Hampshire Fisher Cats ahead for good in a 4-2 come-from-behind victory over the Connecticut Defenders yesterday at Merchantsauto.com Stadium.
New Hampshire starter Randy Boone allowed just one earned run on five hits in 6.2 innings.
Adam Calderone belted his 10th home run of the year, and Nick Gorneault went 2-for-4 with an RBI double in the win. Danny Farquhar recorded his seventh save of the season by working a perfect ninth inning and striking out two.
New Hampshire begins a four-game home series against the Trenton Thunder tonight at 7:05 p.m.
Pressly pounded as Spinners fall
The Williamsport Crosscutters pushed three runs across the plate before most fans were in their seats as they defeated the Lowell Spinners, 8-1.
Williamsport jumped all over Spinner starter Ryan Pressly in the first inning as the first three batters reached on a single, double, and a wild pitch. The Crosscutters got two runs on an RBI single by third baseman Anthony Hewitt after their first run came across on the wild pitch.
Chris McGuiness was the lone bright spot for the Lowell offense, going 2 for 4 with a double and the team's lone RBI.
The Spinners face the State College Spikes in a three-game road set starting today at 7:05 p.m.
