NILES, Ohio — The Lowell Spinners scored the winning run in the seventh inning on a bases loaded walk by Danny Bethea.
That gave Lowell a 4-3 win over the Mahoning Valley Scrappers in the first game of a six-game road trip.
Trailing 3-1, Lowell (27-20) evened it in the sixth. Forrestt Allday worked a leadoff walk and Tzu-Wei Lin drove him home with a double. After Kevin Mager struck out, Bethea doubled to knot the score at three.
After an infield single from Nick Moore, another Allday walk and a walk to Mager, Bethea worked a bases loaded walk to give the Spinners a 4-3 lead in the seventh.
The top of the order provided all the offense. Allday walked three times and scored two runs from the leadoff position. Bethea had two doubles and two RBI. Lin also had two hits, doubling and driving in one, while Moore’s infield single represented the other Spinners hit.
The two teams meet again tonight.

MANCHESTER, N.H. — After striking out a minor league-leading 55 batters in July, Marcus Stroman was back at it again last night, striking out seven Bowie Baysox over seven strong innings.
However, a pair of infield singles led to a pair of runs in the third inning, just enough for Bowie to beat the Fisher Cats, 2-1.
In the bottom of the second, A.J. Jimenez doubled home Kevin Nolan (eight-game hit streak) to put the hosts on top, 1-0.
The Baysox answered in the third. Brian Ward doubled in the equalizer and scored what proved to be the winner on an infield hit.
