Haverhill Instructional Basketball for girls in grades 3-8, sponsored by the Haverhill Recreation Deartment and directed by Haverhill High coach Bob Melillio, the varsity team and others begins Nov. 3 at Pentucket Lake School and will be held on Saturdays through January from 8:15-9:15 a.m. for grades 3-4, 9:3010:30 a.m. for grades 5-6 and 10:45-11:45 a.m. for grades 7-8. Fund Raising

The Methuen High swimming team is hosting a fundraiser at Joe’s Crab Shack at 105 Pleasant Valley St. in Methuen for Allie Hawkes.Oct. 17. Hawkes is a 2012 Methurn graduate, swim team captain, and Relay for Life chairperson. She is a multiple time cancer survivor, but she is up against another battle with this challenging disorder. The hours are from 11 a.m. until closing with 20 percent of all proceeds going to the Allie Hawkes fund.
