Raider girls take tourney

Behind a game-high 18 points for tourney MVP Amanda Williams and 10 points for tourney all-star Casey Walsh, Central Catholic rolled over Boston Latin 52-38 in the finals of the IAABO tourney. Alex Nagri added eight points for the winners.

Rolling Riley

Kayla Riley came off the bench to score 17 points to pace Whittier to a 64-49 victory over Newton South in the consolation finals of the IAAB0 tournament at St. John’s Prep.

50-point half

Trailing Pelham 27-22 at the half, Windham exploded for 50 second-half points in a 72-57 win. Clairee Putnam had 29 points, 11 in the third quarter, and Lexi Sawyer added 14 points and a whopping 20 rebounds.. Hannah Paitchel scored 12 points on four 3-pointers for the Pythons.

Londonderry knocked off

Still playing without injured Aliza Simpson, Londonderry was upset by Alvirne, 43-42, as the host team scored with three seconds left for the game-winner. Ashley Berube scored 15 points for the Lancers (15-2).

Downtown Lancers

Londonderry’s boys canned eight 3-pointers, including four by leading scorer (20 points) Drew Coveney, in an easy 59-39 victory over Alvirne.

Return of Luke

Pinkerton Academy won its second straight game since Luke Rosinski returned from a bout of mononucleosis, whipping Nashua North 63-48. Rosinski poured in 25 points and also had 11 rebounds and seven assists for the Astros.

One-two punch

Lavar Harewood had 17 points and 10 rebounds and Charlie Crockett was right behind with 15 points and eight rebounds as Brooks (17-5) defeated Phillips Academy 58-50. Brooks took control in the first half, taking a 37-22 lead.

Hayes keys Central

Lloyd Hayes hauled in the puck, skated in a breakaway and fired a shot that squirted through the pads of the goalie 5-hole with less than two minutes to left to give Central Catholic a 4-3 victory over perennial powerhouse Catholic Memorial.

Conway nears record

Amanda Conway scored five goals as Tewksbury-Methuen topped Concord-Carlisle 9-6. It’s believed the Methuen High junior could set the state single-season record in her next game. Conway and Kathleen LeFebre each had two assists.
