---- — Scott Corcoran of Haverhill scored a goal and added an assist while fellow sophomore Andrew Walsh of Derry netted one goal to help lead eighth-ranked Merrimack men’s lacrosse 13-2 over Franklin Pierce at home.
Merrimack improved to 2-0 overall and 2-0 in Northeast-10 action. Franklin Pierce dropped to 0-1.
Rookie of the week
Freshman Tucker Schwarz scored two goals and added three assists in yesterday’s win over Franklin Pierce.
This comes after scoring twice and adding an assist during the Warriors’ 11-3 season-opening victory against Saint Rose on Saturday.
He has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week.
Freshman sprinter Carly Muscaro — who finished the season with the fourth-best time across the country in the 400 meters, including the top mark among Northeast-10 Conference runners and top freshman time overall — has qualified to run in the 2014 NCAA Division II Indoor National Championships.
She is the first-ever individual student-athlete to do so in the Merrimack program’s four-year history.
Muscaro will run the 400 preliminaries March 14 at 3:50 p.m. If she finishes eighth or better, will run in the finals the following afternoon at 4:30 p.m.
